The Sound of a City
The main research aim of this project is to analyze specific examples of American local artistic environment, emphasizing characteristic musical phenomena they developed – commonly known as their “sounds”. I am currently focusing on an example of Minneapolis Sound in Minnesota, which is the main focus of my PhD dissertation. It illustrates the emergence of a musical movement, which is strictly connected with the city itself and the music. My main goal is to study the relation between the specificity of cities and artistic achievements that were evidently associated with a local, urban space.
This project is the main part of my PhD dissertation in Cultural Studies, which is currently being written.
